Storage

The Center for Advanced Computing provides several levels of data storage, varying by capacity, I/O rate, and longevity of storage. Nothing is backed up, except AFS.

Storage on the Nyx is the following:

  1. /tmp is a local directory that's unique to each node, and thus, not shared.
  2. /home is shared across an entire cluster (and between nyx and bighouse, but not aon). Everyone shares this space and it is limited, so please keep only files you need there for current jobs.
  3. /nobackup is shared across all ndoes and is a volatile high performance disk system.
  4. AFS is available only on the login nodes and can provide up to 10GB of backed-up storage that is also available in the CAEN and ITCS SITES computing labs.
