Visit Visualization

VisIt is a free interactive parallel visualization and graphical analysis tool for viewing scientific data on Unix and PC platforms. Users can quickly generate visualizations from their data, animate them through time, manipulate them, and save the resulting images for presentations. VisIt contains a rich set of visualization features so that you can view your data in a variety of ways. It can be used to visualize scalar and vector fields defined on two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) structured and unstructured meshes. VisIt was designed to handle very large data set sizes in the terascale range and yet can also handle small data sets in the kilobyte range.

Visit on CAC Resources

The CAC resources provide the server end of Visit to support large scale parallel visualization and post processing without the need to transfer the data from the resource or for your workstation to have large disk and memory resources.

Nyx/Flux Host Profile

A host profile tells the visit GUI on your local machine how to connect to a visit server.

Download a host profile depending on the system you use:

Flux: host_flux_login.xml
Nyx: host_nyx_login.xml

On Linux/Mac place in ~/.visit/hosts/

On Windows place in "My Documents\VisIt 2.0.2\hosts\"

For an example see the demonstration video below.

Visit on CAEN Resouces

The CAEN Linux lab load has visit installed in /usr/um/visit-2.0.2.  This install already supports host profiles to connect to CAC resources for large scale work.
